The Sanguinor - double competition winner!
The pictures above are the various stages I go through when painting a miniature. Each set of 3 pictures (wings/front/back) shows the next stage in the progression of highlighting and shading.
This miniature is a study of blending and non-metallic metal technique based on work by Darren Latham.
I got my hands on this little beauty on the 1st April in order to paint it for entry into Leicester GW's painting competition on the 10th April. For this style of painting, that's not a lot of time so I thought I'd document the challenge to see if a collection centre-piece can be painted in only 10 days (bearing in mind I only tend to paint for 2-4 hrs each evening because of work etc.).
Just thought you'd all like to know that I won the competition! In addition to this, I also entered the miniature into another competition at the Leicester store the following Saturday and it won that as well!
